White Lilies

The first image that comes to mind when one speaks of the lilies is the elegant white lily petals, fragrant, tender, an image of purity, happiness and peace. All ancient cultures around the world have associated white lilies with the gods and spirituality. Allegorical tales have linked the most prominent white lilies with motherhood. According to Greek mythology, lilies sprang from the milk of the goddess Hera, Queen of Heaven. A similar story is also found in Roman mythology, where the lilies are said to come from the milk of Juno, the queen of the gods. Christianity associates the white lily flowers to the Virgin Mary as a symbol of purity, of Immaculate Consumption. It also has references to the resurrection of Christ and to Christ himself, so the Easter lilies a symbol of hope and life, joy and celebration.

In Hindu mythology, the white lily is the lover of the moon god, the Egyptians believed in the properties of white water lily to provide strength and power in America, white water lilies are a food source. The white lilies are mostly used to decorate aquariums, ponds, patio ponds, and even at the wedding flower arrangements.

White lilies are exceptionally charming when used in bouquets, either alone or in combination with other flowers. The lily-white bouquets symbolize the innocence, purity, fertility, happiness, celebration, hope, rebirth, prosperity and peace.
